PhotoBean, as the cable releases follow a standard clockwise turning to screw into the shutter release button, then if there is already a broken tip inside those shutter release threads, it must be turned the opposite direction or counter-clockwise to come out.
I have used in the past a soft piece of wood or even a pencil tip to back out broken release tips. Obviously you should never get too rough with the stuff, but typically those cable release pieces are fairly easy to back out once the soft wood adheres to the broken tip.
