I've been trying to keep myself away from shooting 4x5 E-6 and only use it on special occasions because of the cost. My last Velvia 100 4x5 purchase was back in May. I remember that the price has always been $77.95 including free expedited shipping from B&H. However when I check the site today, the price only shows $72.70, about a $5 decrease. Not sure if this has been posted by someone else or whether anyone noticed this, but this is definitely a good sign
It may be due to currency fluctuations - The US Dollar has risen in value by about 10% against the Yen over the last year. That might account for the $5 saving. It also helps that the price of silver has dropped considerably, down to around $17 per ounce from a $32/oz at the beginning of 2013 (and a $48/oz high in April 2011).
The prices for Velvia in 35mm and 120 fluctuates almost every week at my local camera store and since many different sources still sell 35mm and 120 Velvia and I buy from different sources every time, I do not remember the prices.
Check batch and expiry of any Velvia (in any format) discounted. But if its back-inventory stock B&H could offer whatever discount they want to shift it.
