I have been using QTR in Mac OS to generate curves for digital negatives. I found the process clumsy, so, as per info on Clay Harmon's website, I got a trial copy of Parallels 10, loaded it, along with Windows 8.1 so I could use the curve creation GUI in the Windows version of QTR. I got everything set up with the windows version of QTR, assigned shared folders so I could access existing QTR profiles for my printer and thought I was all set.

When I started QTR in Windows, the GUI came up as advertised, then I opened the Curve Creation GUI & it came up with no trouble as well. I opened a .qidf file of a profile I had created earlier & it filled in the appropriate spaces on the Curve Creation screen. I wanted to try making a new profile so I made some arbitrary changes to the file then did a 'save as' with a slightly different file name. This is where I started running into trouble.

When I hit 'save' the blue circle started spinning & didn't stop, although I was eventually able to go in and see that the profile had been saved. Then I wanted to see the curve, so I hit the 'Show Curve' button & I got the same spinning circle. I was never able to get a visible curve. This is after I had gone back to the Mac OS & installed the curve.

Anyone else having these issues. I got Parallels & Windows 8.1 thinking this would streamline the QTR profile creation process for digital negatives, but it appears to be doing the opposite.

Thanks for any info you can provide

Tom, I have used Parallels 6 through 9 with a variety of OS X versions with Windows XP and QTR with no issues. I don't have any ideas what's causing your issue, my experience generally with the combination is that it works just as expected.

I'm currently using P9 with Yosemite and XP (the latest version of Windows I actually have any real experience with) and am happy with it. However, I've recently done enough fiddling with QTR, attemtping to sort out digi-negs for carbon printing, to just stay in OS X and edit the curve files (as text files, same as qidf) and then use CurveView app to see the graphed results.

Thanks Dave

I let P-10 trial lapse & am editing the curve files in OS 10 & checking them in CurveView.
