Roy Vail? Help ID photographer.

I found a stunning black and white 16x20 print of the canyon de chelye at an estate liquidator.
I cannot identify the photographer though.
I'm not sure if the name is Roy Vail or Ray nail or what. Can someone take a look? Thanks!
 
Maybe I should have put this in the antique and collecting forum?
 
I.m not sure a change in sub-forum would help.
I was curious, so I tried a bunch of Google searches, without success.
Can the liquidator put you in touch with the applicable estate's executor?
 
Oddly, he was my photo instructor at California State University, Sacramento. He was working on his Canyon De Chelly while I was an undergrad 30 years ago. He shot 8x10 film souped in Pyro PMK. Hope this helps.
