How many go canoeing with their 4x5? I have a 4x5 and I have a canoe but the two have never met, what a cool way to spend some time photographing...........Roman Loranc, a real favorite of mine these days. Hope you enjoy.
the kolb brothers ran the grand canyon in the 1920s with a variety of camera gear, including an 8by 10 inch view camera...running massive rapids then setting up the camera to photograph them and then setting up their portable darkroom to develop the negatives -- so why shouldn't you use a 4 by 5 in a canoe? I'd easily take a speed graphic with me on one, if I could get my knees to cooperate
Part of the utility of using a canoe rather than kayak is that you can have room for tripod, pelican case of camera equipment, two people, provisions for a week, etc...
Those b&w photographs really show how a talented photographer can interpret, almost perceive an entirely different scene than the one that presents itself.
