I am selling my Rolleiflex 2.8A. This camera works, but it's sort of a beater (most 2.8A's are FYI). The taking lens, on casual inspection under normal light, appears clear and clean. However, under a strong backlight, from a flashlight ("the dreaded flashlight test"!), a thin layer of haze is visible, as are perhaps a few minor cleaning scratches, a bit of dust, etc. I nevertheless do not think any of these tangibly affect results, at least in typical lighting scenarios.

The shutter speeds all sound right and the controls move freely. I've not tested the flash contacts or the self timer. I did film test the camera and discovered two light leaks from the hinged back, which I believe I have sealed with two small dabs of strategically placed black epoxy which would not be evident to anyone except an expert (unless I told you where to look). A subsequent film test showed no light leaks. The camera would certainly benefit from a professional CLA, and maybe a recovering, but I have too many TLR's now, so this can be project for a new owner!

I've attached two recent photos taken with the camera using Arista 400. I personally think the Zeiss 2.8 Tessar is sharp as hell. Despite what some self-appointed experts on the Internet tend to claim about the 2.8A, Zeiss did the job right with this lens (never underestimate Zeiss).

Sold as shown and as-is with a beater condition leather case, which nevertheless still does the job of protecting the camera well. Priced exceeding low, but I only accept personal checks, money orders, or cash - no exceptions - ever. (I've been around Photrio since it was APUG BTW)

Price: $400 plus shipping costs - USA sales only.

Photrio Trivia Fun: Can you identify the church seen in one of the sample images?

Great price for a Rolleiflex with a 2.8 lens. I agree with the Tessar being sharp, a great lens with film.

Is that the church in the penultimate scenes of the film "The Graduate"?

Last time I saw "The Graduate" (several years ago), I became curious about locations. I read what I could, and the distinctive profile of the building apparently stuck in my head. Never been there though.

I would be interested but i hate the rolleiflex handoff thats required to use it. Wonder if the pistol grip would help.

Yes indeed this is the La Verne United Methodist Church, in La Verne California. This was the location of the scene near the end of the film where Dustin Hoffman interrupts the wedding of his heartthrob played by Katherine Ross. For those of you not from this area, La Verne is pretty little suburban town near Los Angeles.
