From Rollei to Rollie. Why?

if I was to go full artistic, I’d choose Relloi.

I reject any Rollies and rather tend to Rolleis.

As a child I liked to eat Rolo’s.

"Do you love anyone enough to give them your last Rollei?”

To be serious:
When I first read "Rollie" at Apug I considered it a typing error. But coming it across so often I then regarded it as a sort of nicknaming. However meanwhile I rather think that at least the base for this is a erroneous spelling due to "-ei" being un-english.

Everyone should have a pet peeve. One should feed and groom the pet peeve and nurse the grudge.

But one should consider not nursing one's grudge once it is over two years of age.

Maybe because you don't speak German.

That fun part when someone comes along telling rolleiflex that they should have named their own cameras rollieflex...

Yes, you have been fooled... It is the other way round. If at all. Often no vowel is emphasized.

No, it is not "e" but "eye". So no vowel at the end but a diphtong. Which generally speaking one can emphasize or not. In this case not.
