I have a Rolleiflex that I really want to get working. I posted about it a while back, asking if I would be able to do my own repairs on it and I got a strong response back that I should definitely not try to save money and do it myself. At the time I did not have a job and therefore had no money to send it out to someone to get it repaired. I have a job now but I'm still a little cost conscious. I think the shutter just needs an overhaul and maybe a couple other repairs. The one time I tried shooting a roll with it, I shot the first frame and then it would not advance. I let it sit for a while after that and that's when the shutter stopped firing. The blades are closed and when I try to take a photo, it makes a hissing sound and the blades move a tiny bit but don't open up.

Anyway, to get to my question. I'm looking for a quality repair person in southern California that could fix this for me with a short turn around time and at a decent price. I know that Harry Fleenor does great work but I've heard he's quite expensive and has a long turn around time. I live in the Long Beach area. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

thanks for that link tjaded, I have a flex that the film counter is not advancing and it needs a good clean...I have been using my cord and havne't gotten to use my flex yet so I think I'll send it off there for work. I'm in Iowa but if they are amazing it is worth shipping across the US.:D

Totally worth it. I had a Rolleiflex 3.5 CLA'd/bright screened there about 8 or 9 years ago. The thing still works perfectly in every way. By far the best working Rollei I have ever used.

looks like I can send my Rollei 35XF rangefinder there too to fix the viewing window glass and shutter check. I've wondered about the bright screen -that would be nice. wonder what this all is going to cost me....

I have a recommendation for Rollei service in Los Angeles. Ross Yerkes, 323 256-1018. He takes about 2 weeks to turn the camera around. I have had him service both my Rolleicord (shutter repair and CLA) and Rolleiflex Automat (CLA). I think he charges $175 to service one, includes most common problems like sticky shutter, etc. Both of mine came back working better than they ever have.

Check him out on Yelp!
He's cleaned about five cameras for me.
$60.00 and you'll have it in a week.
I wouldn't go to anyone else.
Real old-school!
