Rolleiflex Original K1 612

Hi forum.
I have recently purchased a Rolleiflex original K1 model 612 with Tessar f/3.8 and upon the inspection I have noticed that the camera would not focus at infinity. I opened up the back and removed the camera's ground glass and placed it on the film rails to confirm that the taking lens is at infinity and it sure was. Now onto the viewing lens. I replaced the ground glass and hood, loosened the viewing lens's set screw and played with it until I got objects at around 30 meters in sharp focus. Now I see that the top lens sticks out more than the taking lens. Could it be that the mirror was replaced with different brand (looks too new to be original) and that's why the viewing lens needs to be set in different position? It seems that the mirror sits properly in its slots. Any thoughts ?

Yes, your replacement mirror is probably thinner (could be thicker, who knows) than the original. You may want to shim it in the back w/ some card stock and get your top lens to stick out less, but if it's working fine as it, I would just leave it be. Or, you could shim the ground glass in the same way instead of the mirror.

I know this sounds dumb, but make sure the ground glass isn't flipped. That would give you a problem w/ the focus too.

Thank you, momus, I'm sure the GG is in correct orientation since it has a small bubble level (original Rollei) Come to think of, the mirror does appear thicker than what I have experienced before with newer Rolleis, it is also silvered on both sides, so it's some odd ball. I will just leave it as is since both taking and viewing lenses are in register.
