I hate to peal back my leather and look, though I have done it before. I can't remember what they looked like. You might write to Harry Fleenor in California at harry@rolleirepairs.com and ask him.
or Krimar in New Jersey at krimarphoto@aol.com

Dennis

OK I did peal back the upper corner and found a stainless steel flat top single slot screw head. It was reluctant to come out so I didn't try too hard, don't want to strip the slot.

wharris ,

There are thousands of different screws at market and listen the advise and contact with the repairman.
Kirimar is bit slow , I suspect he is old. Wait a week and obtain real screws from them. Serial number would help , dont forget to add it. Dont ruin the camera.

yea thats what im thinking of doing ive contacted a few of the repair guys listed on this site and trying to get a qoute on a repair.... the camera works great as far as taking photos, but it would be nice to have a fully operational rolleiflex =) the only problem is that i suck at waiting haha... being deployed its my only way of relaxing out here =) i added my flickr link so some of the photos that ive done on the rolleiflex, i had a light leak due to the previous owner drilling small holes on the side for a flash mount but did a temp fix with some black wood putty =)

Krimar will turn the camera around quickly -- I've used him several times and he's done the work within a week every time. So hopefully that's not too slow for you!

Beware. I said something less personal than that about our senior repairmen on a photo forum and was accused of age discrimination, ageism, and not being kind to elders.

Does that mean calling someone a "miserable old bastard" is no longer acceptable?

No, that is still a compliment. You should know that by now. I've been hearing htat for a few years now and suspect, since you are 109 years older than me, that so have you.

I suspect metric screws did not change in time, the Germans must have followed the DIN standards which dictates the screw measures (actually IIRC the DIN #1 was about screws and bolts).
A cheese head screw is a screw of this kind:
http://myword.info/definition.php?id=ch_head_1-a

Once you know the diameter and the height of the "hole" there should be only a few, possibly only 1 DIN screw to fit it, I suspect.

I wouldn't be surprised if those DIN measures became now ISO measures. Those screws might easily be in production nowadays. (a repairer would probably cannibalise them in any case).

I'm confused about what is wrong with the screws the OP already has? He says that he is adding new leather so wants to replace the existing screws that are under the leather?

I've done light sanding of the upper face of screws to remove either shellac or green oxidation (?) residue from such screws. 400-1000 grit, a few swipes with the paper on a flat surface cleans them up nicely.

My experience with Rollei screws has left me a bit confused. I've seen threads that look like standard machine threads, and I've also seen threads that look more like sheet metal cutting threads, especially on exterior locations.
