Hi all,
I’ve been loving my Rolleiflex for a couple of years now, but recently the film advance crank has been getting stuck half way and needs wobbling before it continues and I’m able to press the release button. When I then develop the films only a few come out with the majority coming out fully overexposed.
Any ideas why? The other elements seem to be working fine.
Many thanks.

Sounds like the shutter cocking mechanism, which is linked to the advance crank, is not working properly. I would recommend get it checked and repaired by good technicians.

Yep shutter issue judging by the comment about the few you get comes out overexposed. Only idea I have is to get it checked by someone that knows these cameras. Keep the Ransonol itch in control 😅

First thing to know is what model of Rolleiflex because this winding problem I have seen it in models T and GX/FX.
Transport is quite different with previous models from A to F, if you and unsure what model you have, check this link:

Now the issues, shutter and transport. They are linked in the way one allows the other to work when each one finishes its action, but no much more.
Is film spacing ok?
You are saying lately, same results when you try outside (winter=cold=old grease slows down everything) than inside? I have seen problems from 5 C degrees and below.

I might be completely wrong and the issue is related to something else, only opening one can tell. Best solution take it to a repair tech in your area.

I got a Rolleiflex in a general auction a year or so ago and of course it had problems and the symptoms were very similar. I wondered about opening it myself but decided against it and sent it to be repaired and serviced at Newton Ellis in Liverpool (supposing you are in Devon UK and not Devon Australia) and they did an excellent job.
