Rolleiflex 6002 - Photos

I recently bought a Rolleiflex 6002 6x6 camera. This is my first venture into medium-format photography, I have been shooting digital almost exclusively before now. But I have decided that I want to get back into the world of film.

Here are my first pictures, using Velvia 100F and scanned with Epson 4990.

I honestly cannot understand how people claim digital pics to be as good as medium format pics. These have such fantastic detail, that too after scanning, would love to hold one of these as a print in my hand

Thanks, yes it's an immensely fun camera to use, composing a shot is a work of art in itself. The battery doesn't last long though, I imagine I'll have to buy a new one.

The cat is Fudge, she's my personal model, along with her daughter Waffle. I'm currently working up a plan for them to carry my camera equipment, but I don't think they'll oblige.

I'm really starting to fall in love with this MF malarkey, the quality is just brilliant. I'm still going to keep and regularly shoot my DSLR but I've always wanted to have a serious film camera and this seems to be the one for me.

I received my second film a few days back, and they're just as good. This is time it's the Provia 400F -

Welcome to the forum. And gee, I REALLY miss my SL66 now! Does the 6002 have the built-in bellows, reversible lens mount and tilting lens stage?

NO - those features are unique to the SL66

That's right... Could do with some bellows though. I had a look on ebay for some extension rings and they're very very expensive.

Does anyone know where to buy batteries for the 6002? Ebay has nothing, I'm wondering whether the old batteires can be fixed?

Welcome to APUG.

Some friendly advise: You're now hooked. Whether you know it or not. the addiction to film process has begun. DON"T FIGHT IT! In the end, film will win and you'd have wasted valuable time fighting the feelings instead of exposing film!!!

I love MF! The only drawback is that the few places that still develop/print it are so damned expensive! But, alas, such is the problem with most addictions; they reach deeper and deeper in to your pocket.

That looks like a sweet little toy you got. Now go out and shoot some more! ...and don't forget to post them in the galleries...

I'm not familiar myself with the 6002 type battery, but I've rebuilt NiCd packs from other cameras, e.g. the MN-2 battery for my Nikon F3 motor drive.

Welcome to APUG, and the world of Rollei. There's nothing like them, plus digital can never dream of matching what you can capture with one. I don't know of any rebuildable battery, but even if you change it out every couple of years, they are a cheap investment in getting beautiful images. I change the ones in my Contax G system every year.

Now that you've got the 80mm, you really will only need the 50mm wide angle, and you're all set. I shoot with traditional Rollei TLRs, and nowadays mostly with the 3.5E Planar.

Seeing your shots makes me once again think of making the plunge to a 600x system later this year. Congratulations on a camera that will last you a lifetime, and for sharing your photos with us.

Thank you for the welcome everyone.

I have found on the net a brand new battery for £70. Which is quite expensive, but according to the 6002 manual a fresh battery will last hundreds of shots which is a hell of a lot better than what I'm achieving at the moment, so it seems a good idea. Still hoping to find one cheaper though, maybe on ebay.

I'll be sending off a roll of Astia 100F soon. For now here are a few more test shots...
