RolleiT

I have just bought a near mint Rolleiflex 3,5f Type 2 TLR but I suspect it may need a service. Although the camera looks almost mint in every way, it may have sat and done nothing and is now in need of a bit of checking.

The shutter speeds all appear to be fine when I fire them but when I start to move down through the time exposure setting below B as I turn the shutter wheel, the aperture wheels seems to engage and turn also. Is this common with all Rollei 3.5f cameras?

Hopefully someone will get back to me.

On certain Rollei models the company wanted to make it "easier" for the shooter to move from, say 1/250 sec. at fll to 1/500 sec at f8. In other words, change the shutter speed but end up with the same exposure. I find this a royal pain in the tutu. It's called the EV system or something. I had a Rollei from the early 1950s that did not have this "feature" (Thank goodness) but now have a Rolleiflex made in the later 1950s that has EV. You need to find out which model camera you have exactly. You can override the EV and set the camera at wherever you want but oyu need to find out how to do that with your camera model. Great cameras otherwise.

With my 2.8F late model white face with no EV lock at all, it does sometimes do what you are experiencing. I have no idea why but I just reset the fstop to where I want it and go on.
