Dave, I have the FX manual that came with my FX. There isn't much to it. Is there something specific you want to know?

Can anyone help me obtain a manual for Rolleiflex 2.8FX, or provide a PDF copy?

Hallo Dave,

if you are able to understand german, the this is the way to go:

http://www.aphog.de/downloads/Anleitungen_Kameras/Rollei/Rolleiflex_2.8_FX.pdf

The complete original manual in german. On www.aphog.de in the download section you can find manuals for almost all Rolleiflex cameras. Franke&Heidecke is competence partner of aphog and has provided the original manuals.

I hope this information is helpful for you,
best regards,
Henning

Always my first call Allan, but in this case they don't list one:sad:

Thanks to you others for the pointers, I will try the German site and hope that it has plenty of pictures:smile:

My immediate question was "were is the battery"?

Apart from that I always like to know as much as possible about the machine I'm using, and what accessories are avaiable, that sort of thing.

If you have the camera in hand you see the end of the focus knob is a black disk. That whole disk actually just screws off. Then underneath you see the regular battery cover you have to unscrew with a coin. Then you have to turn the focus knob till the hole lines up with the battery compartment which is spring loaded and the battery will jump up out of the hole a little and you can grab it.

I don't know if it is true with all FXs or GXs but when I have the battery in my camera, when I am focusing, I can feel in the knob when the hole in the knob passes over the battery compartmen as I turn the focus knob. It is right at about the 1.5 meter focus distance. It feels like a bump in the road there. For the longest time I thought there was a hitch in my focus rail. I even talked to a repairman trying to figure out why my focus had a little bumpitybump at a certain point. I finally figured out it is the lid to the battery compartment. Annoying as hell if you ask me but fortunately I don't use camera meters so I don't keep the battery in the compartment so there is no little bumpitybump in the road.

The manual lists only 8 accessories:

prisms

soft leather bag

hard carrying case

lens shade

tripod quick release attachment

Pistol grip

Flash adapter for TTL flash

a variety of focusing screens.

Of course most the old Rolleiflex accessories work with the FX. Including closeup lenses and panorama attachment.

The sheet film back won't work with the new Rolleis.

Thanks for your informative post dpurdy, very helpful. During my lunch break today I downloaded the PDF file that Henning provided the link for, and guess what; it includes a section in English, so I now have a printed copy to refer to.
I had assumed that the battery must be located under the focus know for the simple reason that there seems to be no where else for it, but wanted confirmation first.

Thanks again.

excellent. I am curios if you experience the bump from the battery compartment as you focus with a battery in place. I wonder if the battery compartment in my camera is a bit too deep or something. Strange that they would let something like that go.

The short answer is that no I couldn't feel it; however, now that you mention it:sad: I think I can feel something at about the 1.1m setting.
