For sale is a Rolleiflex 2.8F Planar in user condition. The camera was previously owned by a small studio which used and had it maintained up until 2005. The exterior is obviously well used, there's plenty of wear, scratches and scuffs. The mechanics are in good shape, shutter speeds sound good, aperture moves freely and the focus is smooth and accurate. The meter is active and needle synced. I do not guarantee that the meter is accurate so please assume it's not.
The lenses are in good shape, the taking lens is very clean with only a few very faint cleaning marks which are difficult to see unless you're using a flashlight and will have no appreciable affect on your final image. I've shot Rolleis with far worse glass and still got fantastic results. The viewing lens has some light cleaning marks.
The prism is well worn but the optics are good. The focusing screen is a matte with grid and center micro prism. There is quite a bit of scratching on the screen and like all the older Rolleis it's fairly dim. If it were my shooter I'd replace it with a cut down screen from an RB67, these are very cheap and much brighter.
So there you have it, not a camera to enter in a beauty contest but will go about it's business of taking some terrific images.
-$600 Shipped in the US. International shipping is an additional 42$
Also available is a Rolleiflex 2.8E Planar in similar condition, very well used with plenty of scuffs and scrapes on the exterior but mechanics are fine. Shutter speeds sound good, aperture moves freely and focus is smooth and accurate.
The taking lens does have some wear on the coating, this is very common for the older Rolleis, the coating was soft and simply got worn after years of cleaning. I've shot with lenses in this condition or worse and never noticed a significant degradation of the image. The prism has about 3mm of separation on the outside edge of the bottom element, this is just barely visible in the viewfinder as a slightly darkened border around the outside. The focusing screen is a standard matte with grid and center micro prism, it does have some scratches.
Great shooter, same lens as the F but not as desirable (for no apparent reason).
