Rolleicord Vb negative overlap help

Hello all

first post, although I have enjoyed, learned and benefitted from the knowledge here.

I picked up a Rolleicord Vb for a reasonable price and just developed the first test roll. It seems that whilst the counter has 16 shot on it, the mask is not included which results in 6x6 negatives being frame advanced for a 6x4.5 size, hence overlapping negatives (sample below). Before going back to the seller, do you agree that this is the issue or is there something else?

Well you have to find a 12 shot counter and put that one in, instead of the 16 one.

I think you have 3 options:

1. Replace 16 counter with 12 shot counter - might be difficult to source unless someone has a spare for sale

2. Purchase a 6x4.5 mask set (two masks, one for viewfinder and one for the film plane) - not so hard to find but you will probably have to purchase the full kit including another counter. But as you say you prefer 6x6 I would go for option 3.

3. Return to seller and look for another Rolleicord with the configuration you want.

Thanks for the responses, much appreciated. I have contacted the seller to see if he has a 12 shot counter on the off chance. It's a Bank holiday tomorrow so may not hear from him until Tuesday. If any of you happen to have one, I would be interested!
