FOR SALE:

1953 Rolleicord III (Type 2) in excellent condition. The camera shows very little signs of use. Shutter works at all speeds. 1 second is a bit long, but other speeds are good/consistent. The lens is very clean and clear with no haze, swirly cleaning marks, fungus or oil. A nice looking coated, late Xenar lens. Body cosmetics are VERY nice. This is a very capable camera with its nicely coated 4 element Xenar lens. I would upgrade the original focus screen and you'd have a light weight 35mm camera killer... 🙂 Comes with metal lens cap.

ROLLEICORD III Type II:

Body Serial # 1157000-1344050 1952-53. 75mm Xenar F3.5 taking lens ( 4 elements ) and 75mm F3.2 viewing lens. Compur Rapid shutter to 1/500. No longer uses red window for positioning film. Bayonet I filter. Adjustable film pressure plate to use Rolleikin.

$ 275 plus shipping,.I ship worldwide to PayPal addresses

This was one of my favorite Rolleicord models, and that Xenar punches above its weight. It's in amazing condition for a camera that was made one year after I was (and I am not in exc cond).

I need to find a lens hood for my copy.
If you don't mind non-original non-metal try ebay.

I got one for $14.95 plus free shipping from a U.S. seller in CA going by the name "camerachief". Fits very well and doesn't look cheaply made. I believe it is made in India.

Purists be damned, it serves its purpose!

Looks like it'll fit on my Yashicas too. Did you find it took care of the contrast?

It's on my newly acquired Rolleicord IV which I have just finished my first roll of film with so the jury is still out. But from past experience with my beater Rolleiflex Automat a lenshood makes a world of difference.

I would upgrade the original focus screen
Do you have a specific recommendation, without spending a significant fraction of the camera price?
I have a Rolleicord Vb. The GG has a central prism that gives very precise focusing. But the corners of the viewfinder image suffer from some kind of flare, especially outside, unless I very carefully shield the hood around the built-in loupe.
I saw some reasonably cheap ($30-$50) chinese-made GGs; they seem to boil down to two models, one with a central prism, and the other without, but touted as "super-bright" and indeed on supplied images seems to be bright into the corners. OTOH, it seems that for GG, one can have bright or accurate focusing, but not both.

Be a little bit wary of the cheaper Bay 1 lenshoods on e-Bay.

I bought one to use on a Yashicamat 124G and it was made to engage on the inner bayonet of the lens which is normally used for fitting filters. Hence you cannot use a filter with this type of hood.

I ended up buying a geniune Rollei hood which is attached, like the Yashica hoods, to the outer bayonet on the lens. I can now use the hood and filters at the same time.

If you don't use filters the cheaper hood will do the job and you may get lucky and find that it is made to use the outer bayonet on the lens. Could be a good idea to check with the seller before purchase.
