Hi all--
I just bought a Rolleicord II (type 1) yesterday, but it is missing the mirror. Does anyone here know where I can get one? Other than the missing mirror it seems to be in pretty good shape. The slow speeds need work (I guess I need to find a good Rollei repair place) but that can wait. The lenses all seem to be clean, no fungus or fog that I can see. Anyway, the mirror is top priority so I can at least try out the camera!
Thanks,
Matt
Matt, the shutter repair is easy and any good camera repair shop can fix it simply. The mirror is probably harder and the link tac has given looks ideal. It comes down to cost in the end but I'd have everything done at the same time.
The shutter repair should be about $100/£50 that's usually the minimum charge anyway, so it's worth getting an idea of the cost of a complete repair. The lenses are good, even the three element Triotars fitted to the early Rolleicord's is quite a decent performer, I used to have one.
Any repair place worth its salt can sell you a replacement mirror. It might be cheaper for you to supply one though. There's a guy on ebay redleica1 (Martin) that has them. I normally just cut down front surface mirrors scavenged from junk polaroid cameras.
I have used Harry at Oceanside (www.rolleirepairs.com) for my 3.5F and Jurgen Kuschnik (www.rolleiservice.com) for my old '37 Automat. Both provided great service.
Going to look at redleica1 for a mirror for my '37. Thanks for the name.
