Rolleicord focus screen replacement

How tough it is to replace the focus screen in a Rolleicord? Our last repair shop here in the Twin Cities won't work on TLR's or rangefinders, so it looks like I'm on my own here. I can get a screen, either a Beattie or a clone, but I'm reticent to pick apart the Rollei without some guidance.

Yeah, I sure did. The closest I came after searching around on various permutations of "rollei" "screen" and "replace" (which I figured would give me hits on 'flexes and 'cords) was (there was a url link here which no longer exists) which was very good, but I was hoping to find something more technical as far as the dissasembly. The thread about the RZ screens has been the best so far.

It depends on which model you're talking about. On the Vb, it's a piece of cake. Other models require some disassembly, I believe.

There is a Rolleiflex/Rolleicord complete service manual *somewhere* out there on the web available for download, but I can't remember where. This manual is also purcace-able from several people on eBay. It really is worth seeking out and getting.

Also, you might want to check the archives of photo.net... I seem to remember this being a well-discussed topic there too.

Its trivial.. 4 screws and some clips to remove.. In a worst case, however, one might need to have the viewing lens adjusted and this entails lifting some leather.

P.S.: Instead of a Beattie or expensive screen have a thought about a Satin Snow with maybe a cheap plastic fresnel lens (available often free) thrown on top. The Satin Snow is very bright and just the right grain to make focusing a snap. They are also quite inexpensive!

Very easy to do, 4 screws as others have mentioned. My favourite is the Beattie Intenscreen. Didnt like the Maxwell.
