Last year, at a photo fair, a Rollei XF35 caught my eye with its lens 40mm/2.3 Sonnar. IIRC, it was in the 5€ bin. That camera has both dismissive and positive reviews, but that is not the subject of this post.
Needing to adjust the H and V alignment of the RF, I looked over the web and found some information, but incomplete and not 100% usable.
Explanations become sketchy when it comes to the vertical alignment: "use the second screw, below".
There is also a factory manual, but it is hardly more than a parts nomenclature; see diagram on page 16:
looks like a take-home handout following factory training with "real" explanations.

After peeling off the leatherette on the right side (facing the front of the camera) one sees not two, but three screws.

Screw A is for H alignment. An exccentric actuating a (hidden below) slot in a lever. Nice and simple.

But now, what is the second screw? Both B and C play a role in the V alignment.
C is normally screwed down; and secures the position of the adjustment. So it must be loosened during the adjustment.
The B screw (cross-slotted) secures (when screwed down) ans serves as a shaft (when loosened) for the ring seen around and below. That ring has on the underside an exccentric that performs the adjustment, with hardly a means to rotate it properly, and a shaft that is wobbly once the screw has been loosened. What worked for me was to remove screw B and the exccentric-bearing ring. This reveals the slotted arm below (brass). See picture below.

Using a suitable small screwdriver as a lever, I moved the slot left-right until the V alignment was as good as I could achieve. Then screw down C; re-install B and its collar (rotate so that exccentric falls in place). Check alignment once more, and proceed to re-glue leatherette. Because the leatherette must be slid under the edge of the lens assembly, do not follow the standard procedure for contact cement; instead, apply a thin layer of cement on the leatherette, and immediately put in place the leatherette.
