Just FYI they are very hard to find in perfect working order unless you buy right from someone like Harry Fleenor with a recent CLA, but the price will then be high. I have three bodies all CLA'd a few years back but they still occasionally suffer from temporary mirror lock up for about few minutes when first fired off after having sat for a while. I just put up with it as they work perfectly fine after that. Awesome cameras. Personably, having both, I favor the older non-* 80 Planar vs the newer better coated one but use both. Portraits and macro are my favorite uses. What kind of kit are you hoping to get?
Thanks for the comments. I'd like to start focusing on nature and city abstracts. I'm really just starting out in photography (second year) but I lean towards close up photography, filling the frame. I was reading about Brett Weston, who's photography I love, which led me to the SL66. After reading about the SL66, I thought it sounded like the perfect camera for me. The built in bellows and tilt is a real plus.
In terms of kit, I was thinking about starting with the 80mm, shooting with that for a while and see if I'd need a longer lens. I'd also be interested in a wider lens for landscapes, something close to 28mm in 35mm format, more than likely a 50mm. That would be the basic kit I'd like to start with.
I think for my style of shooting an angled finder would be best, but that's something I might have to add on later. If the camera works out for me, I'd probably want to add an extra 120/220 back. I've also read there's a 6x4.5 back for this camera, which would be interesting to have.
