I have just acquired a Rolleifelx 2x Tele Extender for my SL66 without the slightest idea of how to use it. No instructions, though they were promised, but now lost. I have searched the web and SL66.com and there just doesn't seem to be any help available for this beauty. I have used extenders before and I am not a beginner, but I don't want to damage it or the Royal SL66. Has any one got any suggestions on how to use and not mis-use this item. I will gtreatly appreciate any help that can be offered. Thanks in advance..... Logan

If it is like the Hasselblad, attach the extender, then the lens; remove the lens and then the extender. With a Hasselblad removing the extender with the lens is not a good idea because it can cause jamming. Therefore the most conservative approach is the remove the lens, then remove the extender.

I hope that this helps.

I have a Rollei brochure for the SL66SE and the SL66X. It lists a2X teleconverter. Here's what it says: "Doubles the focal length of a lens. Simultaneously doubles the aperture value and all the stop numbers. For example, it turns a standard f2.8/80mm lens into a long focus f5.6 160mm. All the lens functions remain fully operational when the converter is in use. In the SL66SE, exposure metering and internal flash metering automatically take into account the reduced aperture."
I'd say go ahead, mount the converter on the body and the lens on the converter. Don't forget to adjust exposure by one stop.
Have fun. By the way I have an SL66 and and SL66E.
Good luck

With the SL66E there is no reason to adjust the exposure by one stop according to what you quoted. If a separate meter was use, then open the lens by two stops.

Rollei 2X teleconverter

I have a Rollei brochure that deals with the SL 66SE and the SL 66X. Here's what it says about the 2X teleconverter:

" Doubles the focal length of a lens. Simultaneously doubles the aperture value and all the stop numbers. For example, it turns a standard f2.8/80mm lens into a long focus f5.6 160mm lens. All the lens functions remain fully operational when the the converter is in use. In the SL66SE, exposure metering and internal flash metering automatically take into account the reduced aperture."

So go ahead, mount the converter on the camera and the lens on the converter. Open up one stop and you're in business. Good luck.

Morry, Morry, Morry,

f/2.8 -> f/4.0 -> f/5.6
.....1 stop.....2 stops

Two stops.
