I have a 3.5T, Type 1, I believe, which gives inconsistent exposures at slow speeds in cold weather. I have been told that the mechanism which controls this on earlier Rolleis is a band (like a rubber band) that, if fatigued, or worn out cannot be replaced (parts not available).
Does anyone know if there is any other option?

I think you need a proper Rollei repair shop that has knowledge and parts for the cameras. Try- Fleenor, Krikor, Ebel, Hansen and a few more. google the names and Rollei repair. I haven't heard of a Rollei that can't be serviced and repaired. Great cameras that are worth servicing.

Slow speeds on a Rolleiflex TLR (and other non-electronic leaf shutters) are controlled by a clock-type mechanism known as the "escapement." I think a routine service would take care of the problem, unless there is a physical problem with the shutter.

You are talking about a Rolleiflex TLR, right? They're great cameras -- very well made and will last generations, although like any mechanical device will benefit from service on occasion.

I know you are talking about your Rollei.

I took apart my Rolleicord and rebuilt it from the ground up.

Maybe it's something you can do yourself. I realize the mechanics may be slightly different..most likely way better quality. The timing escapement starts on #1753.

Good news, to those interested. It can, and will be repaired, no mention of parts availability. I sent it to Krikor. He has to adjust and service film transport, focus, and shutter. Total $300, about what I can sell it for, I guess, but I like the camera and can't get a better deal on a new one, and now I know it's in good shape.
Thanks for ya'lls replies.
