Harry Fleenor has repaired some of my Rollie's but I am wondering if anyone knows of a good Rollei repair place a little closer to me here in the Southeast US. Thanks for your thoughts

Mark Hansen repairs Rollei, Zeiss Ikon, and Ricohflex TLRs, but he's in Portland, Oregon and not in the southeastern US. Also his backlog right now is 4-6 months.

I know KEH used to do some repairs, I don't know if they still do or not. I believe they're based in Smyrna, GA.

Cam-Tek in Tampa has done some great work on my Rolleis. They're in Tampa, FL. I don't know if they would take any mail-in repairs though.

Paul Ebel Lens Services in Wisconsin did a brilliant and very affordable refurbish & CLA on my high mileage Rolleiflex T.

As for Krimar Camera Shop in New Jersey (Mr Krikor Maralian) I recommend NO, absolutely NO. Sorry, maybe Mr. Krikor was the best in his field decades ago, but something has gone wrong. I have had a lot of trouble with a recent Rolleiflex 3.5E repair and his demanding extra fee to re-repair something he claimed to have done the first time (shutter speeds, clicking focus knob). Contact me off-post if you want details, but I reiterate, something has gone very wrong with his services. (And I am a former Marflex customer from the 1990s, and his repairs were perfect then).

+1 he butchered a lens of mine about three years ago.

In January 2013, He fixed a Rollei 35S for me that I bought from KEH. I can't remember the details, but the camera came in broken but KEH would not take it back. The lens was very wobbly, and he fixed that, But I had to send it back to him because the film speed (ASA) dial was not coupled to the meter, and the orange meter pointer sometimes hung up at 1/125 s. I think he fixed it again for no charge -- at least I don't see a second invoice in my records. The sticking pointer could have been missed (it did not happen all the time), but he should have caught the ASA dial problem.

It's been working great since he repaired it the second time.

As a precaution, make sure you document what works as well as what doesn't when you send it out.

As far as my experience goes this month with my Rolleiflex 3.5E, Mr. Maralian appears to be in a super hurry to finish the project and get the check in the mail. And he has been impossible to coordinate with over the phone. He will say "it is fine, it is fine." when he did not check it at all (in this case, the viewfinder mirror, which had grime on it). Anyway, it has been a very poor interaction, and any other business run this way would have closed down.

+1 for Paul Ebel, he recently did an excellent job on my MX-EVS at a very reasonable cost.

Harry is local to me, so I was lucky enough to drive to his shop drop off gear. And to meet him - he is a very nice gentleman. I also got to see all the official Rollei branded repair and testing machinery that he uses in his work. That makes you feel good about the process too. Unless you have someone local, to me shipping a camera is shipping a camera. The effort for me to go to FedEx is the same whether it goes to the next town or another country. The destination does not matter, the quality of work does. Which is why I ship my Nikon F2 cameras from Los Angeles to Sover Wong's shop in England, because it is the quality of work that matters.

That being said, Harry does not work on 'modern' Rolleiflexes like the 2.8 GX and FX series. He will not even touch them. But I did find a place that does (and just my luck local to me again!) - Steve's Camera Repair in Culver City, CA.

Good luck!
