Rollei Infrared 400 developing with diluted D76

Hey guys. I just bought a roll of Rollei Infrared 400. Once I'm ready to develop it, I'm going to do it in class where we use diluted D76, I think it's 1+1. But I was checking the dev. chart on http://www.digitaltruth.com/devchart.php?Film=Rollei+Infrared&Developer=&mdc=Search
and it says to use stock D76. So can I use diluted D76 but with a longer development time, and how much longer should the time be?

Also forgot, can infrared film be printed like any other B&W film?

This kind of IR film is just another BW film which happens to be IR sensitive too. Special sensitising dyes have been added to the emulsion that make it sense IR radiation. It is a BW film and it can be printed the usual way. Now, regarding development time with dilute (1+1) D76, if nobody else has personal experience with this film - developer combination, try increasing the time for the stock solution by 40 - 50%.

For D76 1+1 add around 40% in time. Rollei IR 820/400 is a regular B&W film modified with IR sensitive dye to 820nm. You can even use the film as high resolution iso 400 film without any filter.

On my last roll of Rollie IR 400, I tried the D76 1:1 dilution for 8 1/2 min (add 40% time to standard 6 min for stock solution), and I this time does NOT work well. There were tiny white spots all over each scanned image from the entire roll. Maybe there is good reason you don't see any Rollei recommended times for for D76 1:1 dilution. I have a blown-up section of a 35mm frame, and if I figure out how to upload the image I wil do so.

I think I'll stay with 6min D76 stock for now, or go with Rodinal as an alternative.
