Hi, Im going to begin with RA4 and I would like to know if someone has tried the digibase ra4 at room temperature. The instructions are clear about 38 degrees, but maybe someone knows better...

Thank you.

I might be wrong but I think that Harry(hka) might be thinking of the very long thread on Digibase C41 and not RA4. I can't recall a thread on Digibase RA4.

What I can say is that if Kodak RA4 is fine at room temperature and it is, then I see no reason why Digibase RA4 should not be OK also

I use the 1 litre kit available at Maco at room temperature. 2,5 minutes for dev, 2 minutes for blix. I think I just made those times up... Things look good, but I am a beginner. I use about 10-15 ml of each solution in a drum, one-shot of course.

edit: Looking for a roller base, it's not too fun rolling that drum for 5 minutes..

Thanks to all.

On the thread I mentioned, RPC has said:

I use trays, which I vastly prefer over drums, at room temperature (68-72F) for two minutes and never have problems with repeatability. I found that at high temperatures, (95-100F) there was much less headroom time-wise than at room temps and a greater potential for inconsistency.

Between 2 minutes and 2,5 minutes. I'm going to try it today and I'll see.

I use Kodak RA-RT Developer Replenisher. Being a replenisher, it will be more concentrated than regular developer. Therefore your developer may not work the same at room temperature if it is regular developer and not replenisher.

I thought you used Digibase. My fault.

Anyway, yesterday I tried 2 minutes at 22 degrees, and it was ok. The same for the bleachfix, but more flexible in time.

10 to 15ml can't possibly cover 8x10 in a drum (and I know of no smaller drums). Even so, I think it's too little solution to fully develop 8x10. Maybe you're doing something different.

Most RA-4 requires one minute at 94F, two to three minutes at "room temperature" (70 to 75F). So those times seem right.

Check eBay for a motor base. I saw one come up for around $40 recently. Or post in the WTB ads here.

Like bvy I can only assume that either cl3mens has got confused about the amount needed -my Jobo drum says 50ml for a 8x10 and I cannot work out how 10-15 mls could possibly be enough in any drum and yet presumably he has seen no problem with his prints. Maybe he means he dumps 10-15 mls per print and this is the replenishment amount each print rather than the amount needed for each print

I hope cl3mens clarifies this for us

I am using the same Maco Digibase RA4 kit, using it at about 35°C (instructions say 35-38°C) with a camping heater under my Paterson Thermodrum, results are repeatable in color, the important thing is to keep the same temperature.
