Rollei 'bulb' setting question

I recently got back a rolleiflex from CLA and the bulb setting seems to be 'sticky'. whenever i depress the shutter release the shutter stays open until i push the shutter release in and out several times rapidly. it seems like it's some kind of lubrication problem inside the shutter release mechanism. everything else works, shutter speeds are spot on etc, it just seems like the shutter button is a little gummy. is there anything i can do to try and fix this before i have to send it back? any tips for loosening up the lubricant inside?

I wonder if the aperture blades were completely disassembled and cleaned. Only a few people who work on Rolleis do this, and when it is not done a sticky shutter often develops within months. So, I am thinking a very possible oil on the aperture blades.

i'll bring it back by my repair guy, but it wasn't doing this when i dropped it off. could be oil, however he said he did a shutter overhaul.. what that means i guess only he can define

I have found that sometimes it's the shutter release shaft sticking in the sleeve it moves in. You could try a tiny drop of lighter fluid or natha on the shaft and working it to see if it frees up. There are various levers and pivot points inside that also could be stiff. The repairman should have checked those.

thats what i thought too but i didn't know how to explain it. i might just wait till my repair guy takes a look at it. can anything terrible happen if i use a drop of lighter fluid? should i drop it inside the shaft or just around the outside of it?

Put it around the outside of it. No, you won't harm anything.
