Rollei A110 shutter issue

Hello,
I just got a Rollei A110 today, and after cleaning the battery compartment, I put a new battery in, and now it is acting weird. When I fire the shutter, it will stay open as long as the switch is depressed. Kind of like Bulb mode on a 35mm camera. Also I can't get the test light to light up, but the camera seems to function.

Any ideas?

Any traces of mess from a former leaking battery, affecting the circuit? That was my first thought, and as you even said that you cleaned the compartment there seemed to have been a leaking before.

Yes there was corrosion around the eye piece area, inside the camera where the film goes there was a little bit, not much. Inside the battery area there was none to speak of. Nevertheless I cleaned it anyway, and replaced the battery with a 6v one.

@rjay1992 I have the same issue now. Did you ever get to the bottom of the issue? I haven't loaded film in the camera, and I was wondering if the behavior exists only when there is no film in the camera. This is my first submin but I'd love to know if that's it before I burn a few frames

Some type 110 cameras need a lever to be cocked by the perforation to make the shutter work. I have not got my sample at hand, but it can be checked easily anyway.

Thanks @AgX. Actually, I figured it out. The issue is that when the light meter detects that it needs shutter speed slower than 1/30, it expects you to be on a tripod, and switches to bulb mode.

I think not, but WOW! Thrilled to see this exists, was really hankering for one. I might do a light clean on a ever slightly stiff focal helicoid, so this should help.
