I got a Rollei A110 recently, which seems to work properly except that the focusing slide is stuck. So the distance is always 1m/3.5ft as indicated by a green band in the distance scale.

My guess is that old grease is hardened, due to decades of non-use.

I found one online tutorials, but it seems opening up the little Rollei A110 seems a bit daunting.

Do you have any suggestions that I can try before opening it up? e.g. drizzle a few droplets of Isopropyl alcohol under the focusing slider?

On my a110 (ebay, so bought untested) the focus slide was extremely stiff and did not have full range of motion. After removing the front cover plate and the lens cover slider the cause was revealed be the bar carrying the focus tab was bent, presumably from some impact to the slider tab. I noted the relation of the rack on the bar to the pinion gear on the lens, then removed the bar and straightened it, replacing the rack and pinion in the original relationship. That solved it.

In my case, it was gummed up metal slider. I cleaned it and the focus is moving fine.

The little A110 is a bit difficult to put back, and mine is still not properly working.

I took the case off the camera, though it ended up not being necessary. I had quite a difficult time getting the shutter working correctly after reassembly. The culprit there ended up being a small eccentric nut on a link to the shutter solenoid that needed to be adjusted, and that adjustment required a special thin wrench that I had to fabricate. It seems to be fine now, but I'm still waiting for some mail ordered film to arrive to test it.
