Hi.
The pace plate of the lens was fell and lost during my trip.
is the missing face plate can impact on the photo quality?
is it supposed to protect on the contacts around the lens?
or it is just a cosmetic cover?
thanks in advance.
Yaacov.

Why don't you just cut out of black cardboard or black polysterene by means of a caliper cutter a substitute face plate?

My solution would avoid any worries and would make the lens look nicer. Thus I thought it worthwhile considering and posted it in spite of your different request.

These rings have a habit of falling off. Mine did too. I shot with it gone for a while with no issues. It wont effect picture quality, may possibly allow a path for dirt to get into the lens but with care I don't think that's really an issue either. I'd say keep shooting and enjoying the camera.
