Rollei 35 repair

Hello,
I looking for some help with the film advance on my Rollei 35. I know this is often an issue with these cameras. Taking the top cover off I can see that the coiled spring under the black plastic gear is not attached either end, but has a bent hook affair each end. The top of spring must attach under gear somehow, but not sure where the lower end attaches.

That would be appreciated if you can let me know (if you find info about it) where to attach the lower part of spring, as I can only guess. All I've found online is how to tension it.

there is this very nice guy Hans Kerensky on flickr. he posted a lot of rollei stuff there.here is a photo what shows where to connect the spring.

Thanks for this photo. My Rollei 35 has the black plastic gear, whereas the pictured has the metal gear where top of spring comes up through a hole. But I can see where the lower end of spring attaches which solves that mystery. I can probably get it working now. Thanks for your help!

that could be right, the older ones have the plastic gear, the newer ones have metal.
my rollei used to have broken gear, so I replaced it for a newer, metal one.

If that image was copied from Hans' site, and you don't have permission to copy and post, I'd suggest that you edit it to provide a link to Hans' Flickr image rather than posting the image itself?

Yes - please proceed in the way suggested. I'll delete the photos themselves.

It's OK @arnoud bakker . I explained in the background to Matt that you and Hans probably know each other and for sure have interacted on another forum. I also think Hans is likely OK with deeplinking his photos; not sure if he'd approve of his photos being uploaded to Photrio beyond his control. We're a bit hesitant when it comes to these things. It's clear that your intentions are good and your help is much appreciated!

I fully understand, Arnoud. Your advice and the photos were very helpful. Just as I am sure Hans would appreciate. Although images now travel willy-nilly around the internet, I do think that there are some 'best practices' that in a small community like this can still be upheld.

I brought it up out of respect for Hans and his exemplary work, not out of any thought that you were being disrespectful to Hans. I have interacted with Hans once or twice. He was concerned about copyright and his rights to send me a page from a 60 year old repair manual. I assured him that I would not share it with others. Hans is an example of the internet at its best. Of all people to have images copied here and there without his knowledge or permission, he is someone who should be treated with the utmost respect.

I hope that this does not make you hesitant to continue engaging at Photrio! You have been helpful and an important addition to the community. I did not think that your photo posts were malicious in any way.
