Roger Ballen, outsider inside

I have seen one solo-show of him at a german gallery and quite some photos gave me an impression of being from the 40s/50s, surprising for a contemporary artist.
 
I have three of his books and have seen numerous videos. very complex photographer. I spoke with him and tried to get him to the west coast.
