I realize this was to some extent covered before and do realize that some people are comfortable with less than the Agfa (RIP) recommended minimum 10 ml/roll of 35 mm/120/8x10 equivalent film formula. I am trying to do 2 rolls of 120 and 1 roll of 35 mm in a 1 L Kinderman tank (approx max 1050 ml). The film used is Acros shot at EI 80. I intend to develop for 9 1/2 min using a 1:50 dilution giving me roughly 7ml/roll Rodinal volume.

Anybody feel that I will underdevelop the highlights by using only 7 ml/roll of Rodinal? Anybody done any formal testing?

Thanks.

Sincerely,

Hany.

With normal B&W films, 1.25 ml per 250 ml is enough, it just takes a LONG time.

1+50 is safe as houses.

I always use Rodinal at 1:50. As far as a minimum amount you must remember that Agfa was trying to sell Rodinal.

AGFA recommendation was not to use Rodinal 1+50 for HP5+. It happens that AGFA thought 0.65 was the minimum usable C. I. and 0.61 is about all you can get out of that combination. Their number is before you even consider minimum amount of Rodinal in the tank. To each his own. Most of us consider 0.65 too high for normal subjects.

I think from what I have read if you just wave the Rodinal stock bottle around the developing tank, you will get enough fumes in it to do a roll. (If you believe that, I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you.)

GOSH NO PAT !

You have to open the bottle before you wave it around !

I'll trade you my densitometer for that bridge. The densitometer is no use to me since I don't have a source for the dilithium crystals anymore....

Based perhaps on superstition (due in part to a comment from Ralph Gibson), I always make at least 1L of solution
