"SOFT, CRISPY DETAIL"?? Sounds like a pie crust.

When "soft" refers to contrast, and "crispy" to sharpness, then it makes more sense.

Whoever Dr. Andresen was, no truer words have been spoken. Wonder what he would think of this forum and it's many fans of Rodinal. BTW, Any customer of Photographer's Formulary will recognize this as the source for the image on their labels. I always develop my film wearing a high collar on a striped shirt, it's just the right thing to do.

Momme Andresen, German Chemist

Momme Andresen was the German Chemist (working for AGFA) who patented the developing reagent p-aminophenol in 1891. Rodinal is AGfA's p-aminophenol plus caustic alkali developer.

Momme Andresen also patented Metol and Glycin.
