This is probably for Aussie Apuggers but I was wondering if there is new stocks of Rodinal available in OZ. Also, does anyone down here sell Pyrocat? Thanks for your help.
Tony
For pyrocatechin, Sigma-Aldrich sells it worldwide, I think so.
They are not the cheapest but their service is rather good and correct, I buy everything over there.
See : www.sigma-aldrich.com
If nothing else, for Rodinal you could use paRodinal, which is made from acetaminophen (aka paracetamol) tablets and a few other ingredients. I think there's at least one formula lurking on APUG somewhere, but a quick search didn't turn it up.

I had no luck buying from Sigma (here in Australia). They don't want their chemicals in unsafe places, like garages, bathrooms etc.
Merck in Melbourne (not a direct subsidiary of the international Merck) have supplied me with pyrocatechin and other chemicals. They are also not cheap!
You can phone them on (03)9728.7600 and look at their stuff on www.merck.com.au. If you do a search for Pyrocatechol you will get all sorts of things with pyrocatechol as part of their name. What you want is "Pyrocatechol for synthesis" I think. That's what I bought from them.
There's also Vanbar in Melbourne and (i think) in Sydney who are worth supporting. They still have a range of photo chemicals and are sometimes cheaper.

Merck in Melbourne have p-aminophenol (I think they call it 4-aminophenol- please check). It's not the hydrochloride salt which is used in traditional rodinal recipes. Don't buy a lifetime supply because it is supposed to deteriorate in air (dry powder, I mean). It's not one of the expensive dev agents, since it's widely used in laboratories.
Sandy, jdphotochem.com is the go-to place to buy photochemicals "up here". If you or someone else is looking for catechol, though, I have some that I'm not likely to use soon and could pass on to someone else -- send me a PM.
