Hello everyone. I'd appreciate thoughts from anyone with experience with this combo. After a couple hours scouring Apug's archives, I've found a lot of differing thoughts on how best to develop Acros 120 rated at 80 in a 1+100 dilution of Rodinal. All things considered, I'm leaning toward starting with this method:
- 1000ml metal inversion tank, three 120 reels;
- three minute water pre-soak (not necessary, but it makes me feel better);
- remove reels, replace water with 1000ml Rodinal 1+100 @ 20C, replace reels;
- gentle agitation for first 15 seconds, then two gentle inversions once every 8 minutes until total time of 35 minutes is elapsed;
- stop (not necessary, but it makes me feel better), fix with TF-5.
Massive dev chart says 18 minutes with agitation for first 15 seconds then every minute for 3 mins, then 1 inversion every 3 mins. That sounds like too much agitation to me.
I've seen posts where DF Cardwell (whose seemingly has Rodinal running in his veins and whose posts I highly value) advocates less agitation and longer dev times (maybe 45 minutes to an hour with total agitation of 25-30 seconds throughout the process) (not sure if that recommendation was for Acros, though, so hopefully I got that right).
My suggested approach above is a middle ground. Any helpful advice is gratefully accepted.
