RoBot IIa Help

Hey all,

I found a robot IIa recently, and the cassette system is confusing. Would I be able to use normal 35mm cassettes with the camera, or do I need the T cassette adapter for it to work well? I have the T cassette and adapter, but modern cassettes are slightly too tall to fit inside. When using a modern cassette, the film is free to move a lot more than it seems like it should. I am probably going to print an adapter, but want to make pictures with it in the mean time.

The manual does NOT say so.

Instead it says to use for film feed:

-) commercial cassette (type 135 cassette)
or
-) the Robot T-cassette (to be loaded with plain film strips or refill spool) and to be used with Robot cassette-holder

However Robot II (not IIa) models have got a fixed keyway (like that of the T-holder) at the top of the feed chamber, thus only can take the T-cassettes, but not type 135 cassettes.

Yeah and sometimes the cassette is a real @&%$# to extricate from said keyway.
Great little camera otherwise.

There was not even a reason to design that keyway. As type Karat/Rapid cassettes show.

The reason for the keyway is to hold the cassette body stationary as the projection on the door opens the cassette flap as the door is closed.
Unnecessarily complicated.
