I have Rmfx viewfinders for my SWC/M and Arcbody cameras and have the screw-on diopters, how do they work? I'll have a lens made by an optician but what do I do with the existing magnifying lens? leave or remove it? Removing it looks like I'll have to remove the mirror to get to the retaining ring...
You may not need to replace it. Ask your optician what you vision is in diopters. If it’s the same as your magnifier you’re golden. If not, they should be able to replace the lens for you with one of the right magnification.
I can't see squat. For years I've been golden with a -3 on my 500 but I've always struggled with the super wide. But the 500 is simple to replace. On the Rmfx there is a built in magnifying lens, but it can be removed by un screwing the retaining ring which is on the inside, but that requires removing the mirror... Can a diopter be added to the existing lens??

No the one on the 500 is premounted and slides in and out and is easily swappable. But I’ll take it out and put it on top of the other finder to see the effect like you said.
It can’t hurt to try it. For that matter, you could just see the effect by wearing your glasses or contacts (if you do), since the diopter’s function is to take the place of your glasses anyway.
