RIP Stanley Greene

A photographer whose professional activity has made bitter... Fully understandable from what he saw.

his work was mind blowing, more than just typical war correspondant stuff.
like most if not all war zone photographers he suffered from PTSD ...
his work was in a league of its own !

... To end up broke. Sad.

i know !

some of the greatest photographers who have lived have ended up pennyless ! ( or frankless )
atget .. his lives' work saved from a dumpster by his assistant ( bernice abbott from what i remember )
and john garo ( karsh's mentor ! ) was the karsh of his time, photograping the who's who ( including the president of the USA )
and being the first photographer to show in the london salon of art, world tour for gum over pt/pd written up in world wide photo mags ( he brought it back from the dead )
AND asked by george eastman to be in charge of the photo processing division of eastman kodak ( turned it down " im an artist not a technichian" )

another one, total bummer ...
