I attach my sketch of results from "Controls in Black and White Photography" by R.Henry p240, for Tri-X Pan film in Beutler developer, indicating how density of a print from film exposed under a knife edge varies with distance.

I have a copy of this book dated 1983 ISBN 0-9122160-25-5. When I read the quote from another APUG post I went to read more in my edition. There must be additional editions as my book only has 151 pages. Anyone know if Henry published additional editions. Using the books index I'm not locating the ref.

Sadly he has passed away. There is a note in the rear of the book, somewhere, to the effect that the list of references (or similar) was incomplete due to his death.

My 1988, Second edition, has 270 pages.

Yes, mine is second edition, same as Jim Noel's.

I've got the original 1983, too. Can anyone summarize what basic additions were made in the second edition? The projects of the first edition seemed very complete in testing and interpretation so I'm assuming he added some new test topics?

Hi can't really say for sure without seeing a 1st edition, but the Foreword seems to tell a lot. He says,

I decided to embark on a rather ambitious program of studying grain, granularity, acutance... Accordingly I obtained a microdensitometer.
...
In addition to the new chapter on grain, granularity, acutance, and resolving power, I have added a new chapter on Safety in the Photographic Laboratory.
...
More thorough treatment of the subjects of film speed and exposure meters was given.
It seems these would have been the major changes.
