I'm sure someone must have thought of this before but I can't find any results so: is the process of making rice water for calotypes to provide a source of starch?
There is certainly starch there as washing vessels in tap water after making iodising solutions produces the blue colour which is a basic test for starch using iodine.
Way back in 2012 NedL said ' I am going to try rice starch with my next batch of calotypes, ...' but I can't find a follow-up to that.
If the idea of rice water is as a source of starch could one skip the boiling rice process and just use rice starch instead - or any starch come to that?
