Hi just bought the Analyser recently I have a newly question. When taking readings from the negative is it done on the base board or on the back of a sheet of the paper I’m using ? Do you have it focused & to the size you want to print on an easel? Hope I’m making myself clear. Thanks in advance.

I do not have that Analyzer, but I have a meter and I understand how analyzers work.
You meter on the easel, with the negative in the enlarger, before getting any paper. First, compose and focus the image on the easel. Then stop down the aperture. Then take meter readings.
You should check the RH instructions as to whether or not you should have a contrast-filter in the enlarger when taking readings.
No filters, focus your negative and stop down to your chosen working aperture, take a reading from the baseboard of the highlight area then the shadow area,
Thanks for all the reply’s it’s really helpful. I’ve got an old Paterson safe light that doesn’t have a ground wire can I connect this to the analyser or would it be better to leave it on a separate socket ? Thanks again for all the help
I use the same old patterson safelight, and it is connected to my analyser pro, no problems for 20 years or more, connected it is les to remember to do, as the analyser pro will switch the safelight off when taking the readings,
