Revere Platinum Paper

I am confused with which side of this paper to print Gum Bichromate prints. The paper was delivered with “print on this side” on the rough side, yet experienced printers that I know use the smooth side.

I ran a Stouffer 4x5 step wedge on both sides, the rough side is more sensitive. Any ideas?
