Reveni - nice little meter for my RFs

Just picked this little sugar cube off the Fredmiranda classifieds.
I already have the Voigtlander VCII (no complaints) but the price was right so..

It is tiny. And crazy light. Literally the size of a large sugar cube.
Buttons are small and fiddly, but that's because of the size. The on/off button also takes the meter reading. There is a slight pause between turning it on, and taking a reading.

I prefer the Voigtlander just because it is simpler/quicker to use. But the nice thing about the Reveni is the tiny size means it will fit on any camera w/o it getting in the way of any controls. With the VCII, I have to change the position of the hot shoe mount between my Nikon S2 and my Leicas.

As for accuracy - it matches up to my VCII

Thanks, that is exactly what we need. Evidence from users that this meter works and is accurate or equally evidence that it doesn't or fails to do what the inventor says it can do. At times I do wonder if there isn't a conservatism with a small "c" abroad in Photrio that tends to harbour a "can't be done like this" attitude whenever anyone appears to have "squared the circle " in a manner that fails to accord with what that faction's long experience suggests is not possible.

Attachable light meters are gotten really small. Smaller batteries make a difference.

I've purchased one as well, should arrive in a couple days. I think this will be a great asset.

Update: I just looked at tracking and it should be here tomorrow, so yay!

This is how small it is. I put it down on my desk, looked away, and then it took a while before I found it again. Yes, my desk had stuff on it, but still..

I have no trouble seeing the readout in the bright sunlight of the desert. I've had mine for awhile now and am quite happy with it.

It looks bright.
Perhaps their design team could build something not so boxy.
I prefer to read from the top when setting focus, speed and aperture. Would prefer to have the reading on top.

Like this? Model is V201 available from ebay. It is a little larger than the Reveni.

I have both the original release and the updated version. Even with it’s quirks, the readings are accurate and its easy to use. It will interfere with the shutter speed dial on Barnack Leicas. It overhangs the accessory shoe just enough to keep the dial from being lifted. The developers have designed an offset shoe to correct the problem.

The V201 has a built-in offset shoe which eliminates the problem of obstructing the Leica speed dial. See my photo above.

Yes, but I heard that v201 was hard to read in strong light, thats why I asked about the reveni. Again, the design team could take another look.
Im waiting for a Doomo to arrive, see how that works.

That photo was taken with a strong backlight (sun through a window) and the display is easily readable. You could shield it with one hand if necessary.

I have the Reveni meter too. It's not exactly beautiful but it does what it's supposed to and it's really, really small. The screen is designed to be readable under literally any conditions.

I wish some clever technician would repair Leicameters or rebuild them using a new SPD sensor. The morphology of the Leicameter Is perfect for Leica M users.

Another I wish: Wish I had bought a VCII meter when they were still in production. They cost a bundle now from the Japanese vendors.

Wow! Just looked up the website and they have an amazing array of mounting accessories -- including a right angle for the side of a TLR, as well as a wrist strap and a finger ring!

I'm not currently in the market, but I'm certainly impressed with the creative effort this little meter represents.

I'm just playing with it right now. It is kinda stunning how small this thing is. The one reason I picked it up over the others is that its ISO range goes down to like ISO 1. Some of the other new ones just released only go down to ISO 50!
I shoot a bunch of film in the sub ISO 12 range.

I shoot J Lane dry plates at ASA 2 or slower, depending on time-o-day and time-o-year. I really appreciate the fact that this little meter can be set as low as ISO 1.

I find the wrist strap to be super convenient when I'm traveling as light as possible with my featherweight 4x5 outfit!
