Interesting. And I give them credit for trying to solve problems. This one how to hold it without losing your hand. The hotshoe one how small can we make it and be useful. Etc.

I like people who are thinking about these things differently. Might even be interested myself.

The price puts in place with the Sekonic 308X and the Gossen Digisix with all of them offering similar features. The design is interesting and I’m looking forward to the reviews of how it is to use.

It is designated as "Incident Meter", what likely means that it only will meter incident light* and indeed it looks this way.

Thus no there are no optics needed.

*Which makes the title of this thread lesser founded.

In general that product description is not well worded, which likely confused people

It supports reflective metering as well, which seems at odds with the product name.

The Reveni spot meter satisfies a need because there are no other new spot meters being made at the moment. But I think this one may be a tougher sell given the existing offerings from Sekonic and Gossen at the same price point. I wish them good luck, though.

I stand corrected.

Yes, now have seen that opening at the front for reflective metering. And it even is mentioned in the text.
(The whole site appears on my browser as something very stretched with extralarge lettertype, making one lose overview at having to scroll. I have now set it at 30% of size to make it somewhat understandable)

As indicated wording is not logic, but to my understanding flash-light metering is only offered in incident mode.

And the metering angle of the reflective metering is not given. There likely will be no need for an optic. But compared to the traditonal casing designs it indeed may be harder to asses the metering field.
(But to be fair, at most meters in traditional casing there is no indication of metering angle, though it could have been done there at least for the horizontal angle.)
At the Reveni though another means is possible (but it is not to me to do a manufacturer's homework.)

What will set it apart from the Gossen or the Sekonic is the amount of information available on the screen and the joystick control to switch between functions. Like the Sekonic, it offers both wired and wireless flash control in addition to the ambient light meter readings. It also has a micro USB port for firmware updates. Just designing a meter that can be used one handed after a hundred years of neck straps is worth a look.

Exactly. Thus my critique above aside, I welcome the idea to come up with something unique, off the designs we have seen so far.

Based on the fit and finish of the two cold shoe attachment, I am better impressed with his work.

Thanks for cleaning it up. Maybe I should have called it, “Do At Least As Much as a Other Meters of Similar Size, with a few Tweaks! But not as much as the Sekonic 308x.😕
