This last week my processed negatives and medium resolution scans of them came back from the photoprocessing shop. With respect to the Lubitel 166B with a new roll of film I kept a log of my "attempts" to take a photo. After finishing off the roll it looked more like a list of how to mess up with a minimum of effort. I took it and an old Mamiya ZE which had been in storage for quite a few years. The Mamiya had issues with a sticking mirror and quirky shutter behaviour. As I had film left over from when I packed up the cameras for one of our moves over ten years ago, and as I wasn't expecting the Mamiya to work anyway, I used some old film in it.
To my surprise both cameras produced some reasonable photos, which I've posted, rescaled but otherwise unaltered, under my name in the Gallery. The Lubitel experience was perhaps the most satisfying, as all of the exposure settings were done using estimates as I didn't have or use a light meter (which wouldn't have been sensitive enough for the shot inside the general store).
Maybe because its my first venture into analog photography in a few years, I found this experience (although only a few good frames from each camera were the result) to be much more satisfying than my experience with digital photography.
