This is a "mod" I did to a really ratty looking Zeiss camera I pickled up, which I think turned out nice. When I got it, about 80% of the black paint was missing from the aluminum body and was pretty oxidized. The leather was ok so I removed what was left of the black paint, sanded down the metal to remove the oxidation and then polished it to a chrome like finish. I then treated the leather.

I know this isn't a "restoration" but I think it turned out looking nice.

Wow! You turned a Nettar into an Ikonta!

The black paint that Zeiss used was very prone to chipping. They can really look bad; perhaps this is the source of the phrase "Mess Ikonta". ;-)

I have seen this fix before and think it looks very nice. It is certainly better than the badly chipped paint. I assume you masked off the leather to protect it during the sanding and such?
