Resin Box Mounts

Hi Folks

I have noticed more and more resin/epoxy box mounts appearing in gallery shows lately.. first saw these a few years back.

Wondering if anyone has information on the methods, materials and archival issues with this method of mounting/presentation?

Imagine a photograph , mounted on a frame/box of high quality wood, with a 1/4 inch of pure clear resin/epoxy over top,,
Basically this mimics a face to plexi mount but the twist is that the edges or wood or metal without the resin dripping over.
Kind of like a very thick wrap around canvas on wide square stretcher.

the whole unit is then hung from cleats that are mounted to the braces in back of the mount.

very , very cool look if done properly but I am concerned about the archival aspects of this mount.

any thoughts , would be appreciated.

I have seen what you are talking about and it does look really cool. Here is a product that a lot of do it DIY folks use Dead Link Removed give them a call to see what they say about there product. My first concern would be how the resin reacts with prolonged exposure to UV light. How fast/badly would it yellow would be my question.

Hi Derek

I came up with the same product , apparently the exposure to light will cause an amber cast over time.
I am looking into this product a bit more.
