Hi All,

I'm looking for some feedback on how you prefer these two links to function. I was never a heavy user of them but I know some were. If I recall, My Posts and My Threads on the old system showed activity. Your posts and threads list would show recent activity via bold titles. It may also have moved recent activity in those lists to the top of the list.

I should be able to custom create the view you prefer so looking for what you would most like to see.

Thanks!

I just want it showing a list of the threads I started or posted in, and showing whether or not anyone has posted anything in them since I last read them. Right now it seems to just give me a link to where I posted (I'd much rather go to first unread message in the thread).

BTW - Thanks a bunch for all your hard work on the update!

Hi Sean:

First, and most importantly, it isn't necessary to have our avatar beside each post in the My Posts list, although a single title at the top - "MattKing's Posts" - would be great.

Would it be possible to have the results of the search segmented into something like Today, Yesterday, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Older than 30 days?

Basically similar to the way "Todays Posts" is designed.
At "My Threads" and "My Posts" those listings where a unread post is, should be bolded.

Ok, so far..

No user avatars
A user name title
a drop down option to select number of days

A generated list of posts that resembles today's posts (in the list you will see bolded posts)

question: do you want all bolded posts in the list to be at the top of the list? Thanks

If the list sorts by when the posts were made, having the bolded ones at the top would be good.

Maybe an option would be good here. Standard view and another option for recent activity

What MattKrull said: a list of threads I've posted in or started, in recency order, and a way to see if anyone has added to them since the last time I read them. To be consistent with the style of the new site, the ones with unread posts could be bold text. And thanks!!

Edit: We were typing at the same time: that option sounds perfect to me.

"No user avatars?"

What would be the use of showing 20x own avatar?

This is what I'd like for "my posts" too. I didn't use "my threads" very often before but I'd want something similar, just a link to the first unread post, if any

I used that "highlight and quote" feature for this reply and that's pretty cool.

Since I wasn't overly familiar with the old way, better detail that for me so we get it perfect..

I think "the old way" is how Matt Krull described it.

I mentioned this before but since you have a topic specifically for my posts and my threads I thought I would repeat it so it doesn't get missed...
At the moment my posts only shows approx 200 in 7 pages. On page 7 there is a show more link. I'm fine with that. However, where it falls down is that if you have more than 200 posts the page count of 7 is wrong and when you follow the show more link it grabs the next 200 posts over 7 pages and says page 1 -7 where asa its really pages 8-14 and also it never says more than approx 200 posts when you really have sevral more hundreds or thousands. So you never know where you are in your list of previous posts because it alway says page 1-7 and post x of 200 or thereabouts.
I suspect My Threads does the same but I don't have more than 200 to check.

One thing I found troublesome on the old system was My Posts and My Threads were ordered by recent activity, not chronological order based on when I had made the last or first post. So, there may be several active threads I've not participating in for quite some time, but they would dominate the first couple pages of these links. This made it difficult to find specific items I was looking for - if I was searching for a post I made three years ago, it might not be in that part of the My Posts history.

It would be nice to be able to choose how the lists are ordered.

Truzi, would it not be more useful to order these two listings according by others who posted there?

Not always. When I look at MY posts or created threads, it is for reference, for information I need, or to update an old thread. If I merely want to see whether someone has updated a thread I posted to, I use New Posts (and I keep on top of those daily).

I've not checked much on the new software to see if it does this, but it seemed to happen on the old system.
For example, I've not participated in the Weather or What are you listening to? threads in a very long time, but if someone posted there, the threads would move to the top of the My Posts list (on the old system). On a busy day, my most recent post could show up three-pages into the "My Posts" list.

If I'm looking for a specific thread I created and I have a general idea of when that was, such as when I first joined, I will look at the end of the list. If it had activity two years after I joined, that thread might have moved to the middle of my list.

I'm not talking about the "new" or "today's" posts lists, but the dynamic list created when searching for one's own threads.

I suggest putting a "My Posts" button on the header on the home page.

My use of "My Posts" is just to quickly check if any post I have commented on has had activity since my last visit, so that I can quickly reply back if someone has a question, etc. based on my post. So highlighting unread posts in 'My Posts" would be of great help.

I also favour "the old way"
When logged in , placed immediately to the right of "My Posts" was "My Threads"

I suggest putting a "My Posts" button on the header on the home page.

I suggest that once logged-in the forum page and not the home-page will show up, as that page most likely serves the interest of most members logging in.
