Reproducing a negative

Hello Everyone:

The following may be a weird request/question:

I have a 35mm negative that I bent obviously leaving a line when I develop a print from it. I scanned the print and removed the line; however, I would like to make a negative from the new print. I don't have the equipment to do so and I cannot find a service who does it. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated. You may ask why I need the make a print to a negative...it's a long story!

Yep, film recorder will do the trick. Expect a drop in image quality. Someone better than I may be able to tell you how to make a print of your current neg in a darkroom and address the line. I'm not that good.

If you have a quality monitor:
- clean up the scanned photo in Photoshop or other photo editor
- photograph the screen image (use a tripod)

I would scan the bent negative and eliminate the extra print generation, but you may not have a film scanner.

If the scanned hard-copy print is OK then provided you have a lens on your camera that can eliminate most if not all of the background such as a white mat then simply take a picture of the print. Use a tripod and a slow film to reduce grain.

If you've cleaned up the digital image of your negative you could print it on some Permajet Digital Transfer Film , A4 size .
Place that positive sheet on a lightbox , and take another shot of it making sure that the camera and lightbox are perfectly aligned .
Fine detail prints better on this stuff than paper with less bleed , so should help retain some of the resolution .
